What is organic cotton and why should you care for it?

In simple words, organic cotton is cotton which is grown organically without use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. It is much better than non organic cotton because it reduces the spread of chemicals that pollutes air, soil and surface water. Organic cotton also has a lesser environmental impact because it uses 88% less water and emits half as much greenhouse gases compared to non-organic cotton. Also cotton is one of the fastest and easiest fabrics to decompose and takes somewhere from 1 week to 5 months to decompose if done properly. Overall organic cotton is better for the environment, for people growing it and people wearing it.
